CPCS Slinger / Signaller

Supporting safe load preparation and crane communication

About the Role

We’re looking for experienced CPCS Slinger / Signallers to support planned lifting operations across a wide range of industrial, infrastructure, and specialist projects.

The role involves preparing loads for lifting, attaching lifting accessories, and communicating clearly with crane operators to ensure safe and controlled movements. Slinger / Signallers play a critical part in maintaining safety and coordination during lifting activities on site.

In practice, the role involves:

  • Selecting and attaching appropriate lifting accessories

  • Preparing loads for safe lifting

  • Directing crane movements using recognised signals or radio communication

  • Working closely with lifting supervisors and crane operators

  • Supporting safe execution of lifting plans on site

This role suits experienced lifting professionals who are confident working within structured, safety-critical environments and understand the importance of precision and communication during lifting operations.

What we’re looking for

This role is best suited to experienced lifting professionals who are confident overseeing on-site lifting operations and ensuring work is delivered safely and in accordance with agreed plans.

You’re likely a good fit if you:

  • Attach and detach loads safely using appropriate lifting equipment
  • Inspect lifting accessories prior to use
  • Direct crane operations using approved hand signals or radio
  • Ensure loads are balanced and secure before lifting
  • Work in accordance with lift plans and method statements
  • Maintain clear communication with lifting supervisors and crane operators
  • Stop operations if unsafe conditions arise
