At A R Banks we do all we can to ensure we’re doing our best for our customers, our staff, the community and the environment. We strive to provide our customers with the best possible service, delivering what they need, when they need it, and at a price that offers great value for money.
We care about our staff and invest in their professional development and their wellbeing. We’re flexible employers, offering our people a great work-life balance, job satisfaction and a relaxed workplace that they’re pleased to be a part of.
We do all we can to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum in all areas. For us this starts with making environmentally aware decisions in the office such as energy-efficient lighting and a dedicated office recycling system.
We’re also committed to keeping our fleet’s fuel consumption down as much as possible, and we make this happen with our attention to routing which ensures that no unnecessary miles are driven. We meticulously plan all of our drivers’ routes, making sure jobs are undertaken in the most logical order, saving both emissions and time.
We want to give as much back to our local community as possible, and a lot of consideration goes into the causes and projects we get involved in.
We recognise the importance of supporting local food banks, now more than ever as the cost of living crisis continues. So, whenever we have a successful month, we’ll go and do a big food shop and donate all the goods to the local food bank. We hope that by doing this regularly, it can really make a difference to local families.
Sophie’s Legacy is a charity set up in memory of a remarkable young girl who touched so many lives. Sophie Fairall, from Stubbington, was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma, in 2020 aged 9, and sadly died a year later.
It was Sophie’s wish that things change in relation to childhood cancer funding and the experiences children and their families have whilst in hospital. One of her wishes was that parents should be provided with meals during hospital stays, so the charity set up an initiative called ‘Sophie’s Saturday Night Suppers’ to provide pizzas for parents in local hospitals, often donated by local companies. They also set up snack boxes so that parents have access to food and essential toiletries during unexpected hospital stays.
We have donated pizzas and provided Christmas hampers of food and toys for families who are supported by the charity. We have also made deliveries of the food supplies to Southampton General Hospital and QA Hospital in Portsmouth. This is a charity we will continue to support.
Final Straw Foundation is a registered charity working with local communities and businesses to highlight the impact of plastic pollution on our environment and to try to minimise the amount of plastic entering local seas and wider oceans.
In support of the Final Straw, we took a HIAB down to Eastney Marina free of charge and removed a number of old boats that had been abandoned in the shallows. This enabled the area to be cleared up, reducing the contamination risk to marine life.
