Let’s start at the beginning…

Owner and Director, Stuart Banks formed A R Banks Ltd in November 2011 and purchased the company’s first vehicle in May 2012. He kick-started the business by forming a partnership with Tarmac, and gained regular work through their owner-driver scheme.

Stuart’s partner Sarah Banks initially helped with the business admin, and once she’d gotten over the fact that Stuart had spent their wedding fund on his first tipper truck, she came on board full time in July 2016.

Rapid growth

The business has grown rapidly in the past 12 years, and now boasts a team of 15, and a fleet of 10, with access to additional vehicles on a subcontract basis as and when needed.

A R Banks is a service-orientated business, a one-stop-shop for all your transport, haulage, lifting and groundworks needs. We prioritise excellent customer service and exceptional safety standards above all else, ensuring a positive experience for our customers each and every time.

Stuart has been around trucks his whole working life. He left college at 18 and went into groundworks, working various jobs for 10 years until he bought the first truck. He started on tippers, then moved onto grab lorries and started delivering muck away services, and from there he developed an interest in cranes.

Expanding our fleet

In 2017, the first HIAB joined the fleet and since then the HIAB service has gone from strength to strength. A R Banks have more recently branched into lowloader hire as well, enabling us to offer the complete service to our customers.

Stuart now heads up the Project Division, providing a consultancy service to clients to guide them through their options. He is also a Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Appointed Person in Lifting Operations, able to advise clients on best practice in this area also.

Sarah takes care of everything else! Not only does she manage the transport planning side of the business using her many years of experience within the industry, she also undertakes an array of other vital tasks which prove integral to the success of the business. From assisting with the pricing of new jobs, to performing customer visits or tackling administrative tasks, Sarah’s varied role keeps the business running smoothly.

Where we are today

Based in Fareham on the south coast, we deliver our services in Hampshire, the surrounding counties and throughout the UK. It is our plan to continue expanding our services, fulfilling customer needs and exceeding expectations as we go.
