Semi Lowloader, Lowloader & Wafer Deck

Transporting heavy, wide or tall loads with ease

We couple our Lowloader or Wafer Deck Trailers to our heavy haulage tractors units to provide abnormal load transportation services that are second-to-none.

We have a number of Articulated Semi Lowloaders / Lowbeds that are ideal for moving heavy, wide or tall loads, with a gross train weight of up to 80 tonnes. These vehicles are loaded by our drivers, who are highly trained and experienced vehicle operators.

Our Lowloader and Wafer Decks are most often utilised for transporting wide, heavy or tall loads such as construction plant, generators, transformers, engineering plant and self-propelled vehicles.

Wafer Deck Trailers are able to transport loads that are classed as a high load thanks to their close proximity to the ground, affording them the ability to carry taller objects. Wafer Deck Trailers also boast a unique design feature; a hinged connection between the tractor and the trailer, which allows greater flexibility and manoeuvrability.

The "semi" aspect refers to the trailer partially resting on the tractor, distributing the load weight effectively. Semi Lowloaders are lower to the ground compared to standard trailers, enhancing stability and making loading easier, especially for abnormal loads. Their adaptability makes them invaluable for a variety of heavy-duty transport tasks.

Vehicle features

  • Increased stability: Wafer Deck Trailers have a lower deck height, which significantly reduces the centre of gravity of the load. This enhances stability during transport and reduces the risk of tipping over.
  • Enhanced safety features: These trailers are equipped with specialised securing mechanisms and robust construction to safely transport heavy machinery and oversized loads, complying with UK safety regulations.
  • Flexible loading options: The design allows for easy loading and unloading from the rear, sides, or above, accommodating a variety of load types and sizes.
  • Reduced need for permits: Due to their low profile, Wafer Deck Trailers can often carry taller loads without exceeding height restrictions, potentially reducing the need for special permits and route surveys, which can be time-consuming and costly.
  • Ease of navigation: Lowloader Tractors, designed to work with Wafer Deck Trailers, are typically more manoeuvrable than standard heavy-duty trucks, which is beneficial in busy urban areas and compact construction sites.
